Announcing our 2017 Photo Contest Winners

For the last several years, FLVS has hosted photo contests allowing students to share their success stories and what it’s like to be an online student. This school year, we put a new twist on the contest as FLVS celebrates 20 years of innovative student learning.

In honor of our 20th Anniversary, we wanted to see how our students have grown thanks to FLVS and where they see themselves in the future. Students were invited to submit a picture on social media using the hashtag #IAMFLVS and share how FLVS has shaped them into the students they are today – and will contribute to where they see themselves in 20 years.

Every year, we receive hundreds of amazing entries and this year was no different! We heard all kinds of inspiring stories and loved reading about our students’ hopes and dreams for the years ahead. FLVS is proud to serve so many talented and ambitious students who have already accomplished so much and have their sights set high for the future!

FLVS has come a long way since 1997, but we can’t wait to see where the future takes us as we continue to help students reach their goals.

So without further delay, we’re excited to present our contest winners!

Being with FLVS has given me many opportunities to paint and follow my dreams.

Painting gives me freedom to express myself, and spreads the message that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it.

FLVS has shaped me into the person I am today by helping me be more open-minded to things. I am now more open-minded towards reading books outside my comfort zone. Not only is this with reading, but also with trying new foods and cultures. Every day I work harder to learn about things that I have yet to know about, and I’d like to thank FLVS for pushing me and supporting me to learn new and better things.

In 20 years, I see myself having a family and working as an interior designer/realtor. You’re never too old to travel either right? I see myself taking my family to places and sharing memories together while they learn new cultures as well. On the side, I would also love to keep my blog updated with the latest fashion trends and travel news.

The photo above shows me swimming with Humpback whales in Tonga, an island near Fiji. The only reason this amazing experience is an option is because of Florida Virtual School. FLVS has shaped me into the student I am today by allowing me to travel and experience incredible things on this beautiful planet. In 20 years, I see myself increasing our knowledge of animals by working as a marine biologist.

Stay tuned for a future post sharing other student stories and honorable mentions!
