Happy 2019, FLVS! We hope the new year finds you well.

Now is the time to plan to get involved with all that FLVS has to offer. Here are a few highlights and happenings of what to expect in January and February.

First, we want to remind you that Monday, Jan. 21 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a designated holiday for all FLVS instructors and support staff.

Celebrate Literacy Week

The FLVS Literacy team is very excited to share that FLVS has 30 incredible sessions lined up for Celebrate Literacy Week 2019: Spreading Literacy, One View at a Time. Make plans now to join us for the kick-off session on Monday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. with honorary guest speaker Simon T. Bailey. Mr. Bailey is the author of 10 inspiring books including “Brilliant Living.”  He is a breakthrough strategist whose life’s purpose is to teach 1 billion+ people to be fearless and create their future by helping them dig deep to release their inner brilliance.

Calling All Athletes

Are you a student athlete? Have you ever dreamed of playing Division 1 athletics in college? Do you need to know more about NCAA eligibility? If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, join the FLVS School Counseling Team on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. We will be discussing what it takes to be eligible to play NCAA sports and how you can make the most out of your high school years as a student athlete.

Senior Student Scholarship Opportunity

Deadline to apply: Friday, Feb. 15

The Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) is accepting 2019 scholarship applications. The FBOL student scholarship program provides graduates of accredited blended and online programs access to financial support that will enable them to achieve their educational goals beyond high school. This scholarship specifically focuses on supporting students who have proven their commitment to digital learning and wish to continue this approach through their secondary education.

#FLVSCodes Contest is Wrapping Up!

Have you submitted your contest entry yet? Our #FLVSCodes Photo & Video Contest ends on Monday, Jan. 14 at 11:59 p.m. We’ve enjoyed seeing how our students are engaging in computer science. Thank you to our amazing participants for making the contest a success.

Three lucky winners (representing elementary, middle, and high school) will be chosen to receive an iPad generously donated by the FLVS Foundation. An announcement will be shared once students have been selected and notified. Be sure to stay tuned for a future post!

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Sign up for half-credit AP courses before Jan. 31!

High school students entering grades 9-12 can earn college-level credits via FLVS! These courses are a great way to get a jump-start on college credit.

    Hi. Is it possible to access the Literacy Week links after the live sessions have already aired? My daughters attend traditional school and FLVS school. Their schedule doesn’t allow for them to view FLVS live information until after 2pm.
