#FVHSClassof2023: Meet Lauren B., FLVS Foundation Scholarship Winner!

A family visit to the National Cryptologic Museum in Washington D.C. ignited a love for technology and cybersecurity in Lauren B., a recent Florida Virtual High School (FVHS) graduate. By taking cybersecurity courses through FVHS and enrolling in dual enrollment courses at Valencia College, Lauren accomplished the impressive feat of graduating a year early with a 4.0-grade point average. Plus, she is on track to receive her A.A. degree in Cybersecurity next semester.

As the graduation season for the Class of 2023 ends, we proudly recognize Lauren as one of our exceptional senior scholarship winners from the FLVS Foundation, the philanthropic organization of Florida Virtual School.

Seniors Receive Scholarships from FLVS Foundation

The FLVS Foundation, Inc., the philanthropic arm of Florida Virtual School (FLVS), provided $2,000 in donor-sponsored scholarships to three graduating seniors of the Class of 2020. The FLVS Foundation is proud to recognize FLVS Full Time student Dana Hooley recipient of the College Smart Start Scholarship and FLVS Full Time student Maya Washburn and FLVS Flex student Mikayla William recipients of the Simon T. Baily Brilliant Club Fellow Scholarships.

Momentum: FLVS World Symposium Recap

If you have ever wondered how much fun 2,000+ educators could have at once, just attend the annual Momentum: FLVS World Symposium held in Orlando each fall. Yes, there is a ton of learning going on, and educators find that pretty thrilling. It is in their DNA! One educator summarized day one of this year’s conference as follows: “Awesome conference so far. Only one day and I already feel equipped!”

Educators across the country came to learn, participate, present, and network at the conference in early October alongside Florida Virtual School staff. This collaborative learning experience benefited all who attended. As one FLVS staff member highlighted, “Love the idea of presenters outside of FLVS. Lets us know what is going on outside our world.” Continue reading


Doors Continue to Open in Online Learning

Blog_cover_ODWThe annual “Opening Doors to the World” awards celebration was created by The Foundation for Florida Virtual School (The Foundation) to honor champions, pioneers, and distinguished individuals who have been instrumental in paving the way for innovative education.
