FLVS Corkboard: New Year Edition

Hey Florida Virtual School students and families, we hope the new year is treating you right! Whether you are new to FLVS or getting back into a groove for spring semester, there are many ways to get involved and we’re happy to share a few upcoming events. 

First, we want to remind you that Monday, Jan. 20 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a designated holiday for all FLVS instructors and support staff.


Chinese New Year Celebration

On Thursday, Jan. 23, the FLVS Chinese teachers are hosting an annual Chinese New Year Live Lesson celebration and all students are invited. Learn more about Chinese New Year including food, activities, and more.

Celebrate Literacy Week

FLVS is excited to participate in Celebrate Literacy Week 2020 from Jan. 27 – Feb. 1. This year’s theme is: “BOOK Your Trip: Adventure Awaits!” and there are many opportunities for exciting adventures during this week. World Fest: Continent Connections

FLVS World Fest is a fantastic journey sponsored by Student Activities tucked inside Celebrate Literacy Week on Thursday, Jan. 30. Hosted by the FLVS International Club, “Continent Connections” features the following sessions:

  • 6:00-6:15 – Europe (Spanish Honor Society/Mega News Network)
  • 6:15-6:30 – North America (Cooking Club)
  • 6:30-6:45 – Africa (Teen Driving Club)
  • 6:45-7 – Australia (Science NHS)
  • 7-7:15 – Asia (Math Club)
  • 7:15-7:30 – South America (Photography Club)
  • 7:30-7:45 – Antarctica (International Club)

School Choice Week

National School Choice Week is Jan. 26-Feb. 1.

School choice means giving parents access to the best educational options for their children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. National School Choice Week began in 2011 and celebrates opportunity in education.

M/J Coding

Ever wonder how your favorite websites and games are made or how technology is used in day-to-day life? Get an introduction to the basics of computer science and discover how to create and build your very own website using HTML in our new Middle School Coding Fundamentals course!

M/J Coding Fundamentals is now enrolling for middle school students.

Get Ready for Spring Enrollment

If you’re a student taking courses with FLVS Flex, spring is a great time to learn a new language, explore an interesting elective, earn an industry certification, or satisfy your online course graduation requirement for high school.

If you haven’t already, learn more and browse our courses and enroll today.


Advanced Placement® (AP) Course Enrollment

Closing Soon! Sign up for half-credit AP courses before Jan. 30.

High school students entering grades 9-12 can earn college-level credits via FLVS for free. Full-credit course registration closed in September, however these half-credit courses are still available: AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP United States Government and Politics.

    It would be great if there were FLVS picnics & get togethers for specific grades (ages) … My daughter needs to actually find a social environment to make friends locally with teens involved in a similar education alternative.
    Please let me know if this is available. If not I would be willing to host (co-host) events at local parks or library, movie theaters, bowling alley, etc. For my daughters age group (16-18) 11th & 12th graders….

      If you want your daughter to find teens to be friends with find a good local church to go to. If you live in the Pasco area my church has a lot of homeschool teens. They have a website if you want to learn more @ dccalvary.com
