Florida Virtual School Student Sings National Anthem at NBA Game

To say our students are talented would be an understatement, they’re basically superstars. No, really. Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has many notable alumni that are performers and athletes like country singer Noah Schnacky, professional tennis player Coco Guaff, and MLB player Jose Salas. And recently, I had the pleasure of talking to FLVS student and singer Pranysqa M.

Pranysqa is one of our FLVS Full Time third grade students who has made a name for herself, singing “O Canada” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” at sporting events across the United States and Canada.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Pranysqa began singing when she was just five years old and started performing at six years old when she was invited to sing at a NBA Washington Wizards game. Pranysqa’s family quickly saw her potential and decided to move to Tampa, Florida to pursue her singing career.

Flexible Online Learning is Music to My Ears

When they moved to Florida, Pranysqa’s parents knew that singing lessons, auditions, and performances would affect her school attendance, so they started looking at alternative options like home school and online learning. Ultimately, they decided to try FLVS.

But making the switch to online learning wasn’t an easy decision. Pranysqa’s mother Priya explains, “I was really skeptical about how she was going to manage school,” she continues, “but the support from teachers was what she needed, and we’re definitely getting it.”

Especially from third grade Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Coleman who helps Pranysqa organize her assignments around her busy schedule while encouraging her to follow her dreams!

Now, Pranysqa is taking full advantage of the flexibility and support of online learning. Not only is she able to excel academically with the help of her teachers, but she also spends more time doing what she loves: singing and performing. Additionally, she has more time to practice the six (yes, six instruments!) she plays, including piano, guitar, and drums. Plus, she’s learning how to use software to create her own music!

Striking a Chord with National News

Pranysqa is already making her mark, performing the national anthem at multiple sporting events, including the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Rays, and most recently, the Miami Heat. Her stunning performances have caught the attention of major news channels like Good Morning America, The Morning Show, FOX and friends, and CBS. She’s even performed at the world-famous Apollo Theater in New York City.

As a singer, Pranysqa draws inspiration from some of her favorite artists, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, and Jennifer Hudson, and she hopes to become a well-known pop singer like them in the future. Follow her journey on Instagram @pranysqa.mishra.

She is so good keep up the amazing work! My daughter Sami Thompson is also a recording artist and a FLVS Flex student. The flexibility of the schedule is so helpful when she’s recording or shooting videos!
