Innovative Math Instruction

MJ Math blog
More than ever before, middle school math students are being asked to perform at a higher rate in class and on assessments.

Students are learning higher-level standards and being evaluated in new ways with computer-based testing and interactive tools.

New standards expect students to be able to: make sense of problems and persevere in solving them, reason abstractly and quantitatively, construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, model with mathematics, use appropriate tools strategically, look for and make use of structure, and look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

At FLVS, our students are up to the challenge!

Our latest courses have many new assets to help students accomplish these standards. Students can practice skills through interactive elements and games and learn concepts through audio and video instruction. Our interactives simulate these new assessment tools with elements like sliders, drop-down bars, multi-select options, and more. Students are given means to practice a skill until they get it, with our reiterative practice tools. Or they can jam out with cool music videos that teach important concepts.

Our students are expected to learn more, do more, and use grit to get there; we have provided them the tools they will need to meet that challenge.

I have not seen ANY math games, and I have been doing this since 6th grade! Is there something wrong with my computer?
