Meet FLVS Student Cody Sullivan

Cody SullivanAs many people head out to see movies this summer, FLVS student Cody Sullivan is going to see himself on the big screen!

At the young age of eight, Cody began performing in theater. Then he started taking acting classes. Not long after, he retained an agent and moved out to Los Angeles for six months. Since then, he’s had the opportunity to act in a variety of shows like Revolution, Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, House of Lies, and Trophy Wife.

Most recently, you can see the high school sophomore in Wish I Was Here, a movie starring Zach Braff and Kate Hudson (premiered in theaters July 2014). He had the opportunity to play “Jesse” and was on set for 2-3 days for his three scenes. Cody said it was the most fun to work with Braff because he was “very funny and cracked a lot of jokes.”

Cody came back to live in Florida and when asked why he didn’t stay out in LA, he said that he enjoys being a “normal” kid when he comes home.

“It’s easy to get caught up in California with people stroking your ego,” he said. “I have a great support system here.”

Of all of his roles, Cody recognizes education as the most critical. He said, “FLVS gives me so much flexibility and the teachers are amazing. They treat me with respect. They’ve always been there for me and never ignore me when I call them. They give it their all.”

So, what does Cody see in his future? He said he hopes for more auditions and parts on screen, of course, but knows that high school comes first. While he isn’t quite sure of what he wants to do in the future, he knows he wants to continue performing. “I act because I love doing it,” said Cody. “It’s just one of those things I’ve always done because I love it so much. If I walked away from it and if I wasn’t a part of the entertainment industry, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.”

I tried out for a few movies and was an extra in a movie that hasn’t come out yet. That’s how I found out I don’t have that talent… lolz. But try it, it’s really fun and takes A LOT of effort, I believe you would be able to do it! XD

This dude is an awesome inspiration to aspiring actors. This dude proves that to be an actor, you don’t have to go to some fancy school. Nice job bro! Keep it up!

I love Criminal Minds. If you read this Cody I just want to say follow your dreams and never let anyone stop you. Your story made me realize my dream is not impossible. I can do this and so can you. Your an outstanding kid and an amazing actor. Keep up the great work.

I think Cody is a massive inspiration for people like me. We’re the people who could NEVER sit behind a desk, in a cubicle, typing papers. At least, I know I could never do that. I’m a singer and seeing how Cody made his dream a reality, I know I can make mine one too. Of course, as he said, high school comes first 🙂

  6. JaydeTheCat......

I have a pretty big, crazy dream. I want to be a singer, but if that doesn’t work out, an English teacher. I am 15 and eligible to get on X Factor (if they ever run the show again). IDK why I’m writing this, well. Cody, your pretty cute, and it may get annoying hearing that. You will make any girl happy and lucky to have you! Congrats, I hope you will get your big break soon! XD
