Research studies show that the arts engage students and increase learning and achievement. For example, students who participate in drama have increased reading readiness and word fluency in elementary grades, and continue to improve reading comprehension and writing skills through middle and high school. They were elements included in the winning projects at this year’s Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Science Showcase. The event was organized, hosted, and emceed by the FLVS Science National Honor Society, giving students the chance to share their love of all things science with their families, teachers, and friends virtually.
