25 Activities to Look Forward to This School Year

Summer’s almost over but the fun is just getting started at Florida Virtual School (FLVS)! To get you hyped, we put together a list of 25 activities you won’t want to miss this year.  

Fall 2022 

First Day of School | August 15 

It’s finally here—the first day of school! Celebrate with us by sharing your first day of school photos on our padlet.  

FLVS Clubs 

FLVS is home to more than 60 clubs—from gardening and coding to cooking and photography—but they fill up quickly, so be sure to check them out at Club Rush! See the Club Rush dates and times below: 

Club Rush | August 26 – September 2 

Meet our clubs and find your crew at Clubs Rush 2022: 

  • FLVS Flex and Full Time Kindergarten-5th grade students: Friday, August 26 at 10 AM EST 
  • FLVS Flex 6th-12th grade students: Thursday, September 1 at 4 PM EST 
  • FLVS Full Time 6th-12th grade students: Friday, September 2 at 10 AM EST 

FLVS Face-to-Face Meetups and Field Trips 

In-person events and activities are officially back! Join one of our county meetups or FLVS field trips to explore Florida. Bonus: You’ll get to meet fellow students and families in your area! 

FLVS School Store 

Add a little bit of spice to your wardrobe and show your FLVS pride with some of our new merch! There’s something for the whole fam, including rising seniors, moms, and dads! 

Celebrate Freedom Week | September 3-9 

We’re celebrating freedom—and reflecting on the importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution this September.  

Hispanic Heritage Month | September 15 – October 15 

Join us throughout the month to celebrate the contributions and achievements of Hispanic Americans and their influence on culture and history in the United States.  

Teen Safe Driver Week | October 16-22 

We’re pressing the brakes on reckless driving this year. And you should too! Brush up on the rules of the road before you get behind the wheel this October–it could save a life. 

Red Ribbon Week | October 23-31 

This Red Ribbon Week, students can participate in themed days to raise awareness of living a drug-free life.  

Holocaust Education Week |November 7-11 

Every year, we commemorate victims and survivors of the Holocaust and reflect on the events of the Holocaust. Stay tuned for more details! 

Computer Science Education Week | December 5-11 

Curious about computer science? It only takes an hour to learn the basics! Join us for Hour of Code this December.  

Winter 2023 

Celebrate Literacy Week | January 

This winter, we’re getting cozy with hot cocoa, a warm blanket, and our favorite book for Celebrate Literacy Week. But it’s never too early to make reading part of your daily routine, check out this year’s sunshine state books:

Black History Month | February 

Join us in celebrating the contributions of African Americans who have helped shape our nation this February. 

100th Day of School | February 

98, 99, 100 days of school will have passed but there’s still so much more to do before school ends in the spring!  

FLVS Science Fair | Winter 2023 

Is it me? Am I the scientist? Yes. And we want to see what kind of experiments you’ve got up your sleeve! More information regarding this event will be coming soon.  

National School Counselors Week |February 6-10 

From helping parents choose the right course for their children to helping high schoolers map out their path to graduation and beyond, there’s no doubt that our FLVS Counselors are rockstars! Help us celebrate all they do this February. 

Game Jam | Winter 2023 

The clock is ticking to practice your programming skills. This February, you, and your team, will have 24 hours to design and develop your own video game in the annual FLVS Game Jam.  

World Fest | Winter 2023 

Get ready to journey around the world to learn about unique and vibrant cultures at our annual World Fest. We’ll save you a seat.  

Spring 2023 

Club Awards | Spring 2023 

This year’s going to be lit! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish at the annual club showcase and award ceremony. Don’t miss a beat. Check out our clubs at flvs.net/clubs. 

Book Battle | Spring 2023 

Love to read? It’s your time to shine! Read the sunshine state books and use your knowledge at the annual FLVS Book Battle to help the FLVS Flex or FLVS Full Time team take home bragging rights. More info to come – stay tuned! 

Chess Tournament | Spring 2023 

Did you know that FLVS has a chess club? And they host an annual FLVS chess tournament? It’s true! Join the club to level up your chess skills before the tournament this spring! 

Shakespeare Fest | March 20-26 

Hear ye, hear ye! We’re hosting a grand celebration to honor the life and work of William Shakespeare—and you’re invited this April. 

National Volunteers Week | April 15-22 

From beach clean-ups to food drives, our students and staff go above and beyond for their communities—and we’re thrilled to shine a light on all they do!    

Teacher Appreciation Week | May 1-5 

FLVS teachers: The real MVPs who help students reach their full potential each and every day. This year, we’re making Teacher Appreciation Week extra special. And we’ll need your help along the way! Be sure to check back in April for more info. 

Last Day of School/Graduation 

Before you know it, the end of another school year will be here, and our FLVS Full Time Class of 2023 will be walking the stage. Que the confetti.

    Interested in club rush and field trips… Daughter is 8th grade with county Pasco eschool full time. Is she able to participate?

      Hi Amy! Yes, if your child has an flvs.net email address they can participate in FLVS clubs and activities.

    cool! I did’t know flvs is doing FLVS Face-to-Face Meetups and Field Trips this year I was wondering if they do it for flvs flex 6 grade or do they only do it for full time and if they do do it for flvs flex when will the first one be and were will it be?
