Students Recognized at Club Awards Day
If you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work! We know our Florida Virtual School students work hard, not only in their courses, but also in activities extending beyond their studies.
FLVS offers more than 55 student clubs and activities where students participate in online and face-to-face activities. Our clubs are a great way for students to stay connected and involved!
Every year, FLVS hosts an annual Club Awards Day – one of our favorite annual events.
This special day recognizes student leaders who have been nominated by their FLVS Club sponsors. This year, more than 200 students and families attended the celebration held in Orlando on February 20, 2020.
The event began with a display board exhibit where event attendees could meet and greet student club members and sponsoring teachers to learn more about the clubs FLVS offers. After lunch, there were several student performances.
The American Sign Language Club signed Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Baby Shark. Our FLVS Elementary Cheerleading Club was spirited with energetic cheers. The Fine Arts Club and Glee Club performed in style with a mix of members singing in person and from home – with several singing on-camera using their webcams to be projected on the screen.
After the performances, 65 students were brought up to the stage individually to accept their certificate of achievement and medallion for demonstrating excellence in leadership and participation in their specific club.
Every year, we are impressed by our talented student stars!
The following five students received an FLVS Student of the Year Award trophy for their exemplary academic efforts, community service citizenship, volunteer service, and leadership through clubs and student activities. They not only exhibited these qualities, but exceeded the expectations of their club sponsors and teachers. Congratulations to our winners:
- August Speisman – Geo Bee Club
- Joy Louis – Speech and Debate
- Finnan Lynch – French Honor Society
- Pedro Beauvoir Jr. – Cooking Club
- Imani Rodriguez – FLVS Full Time Student Council

A special thank you to the FLVS Foundation for sponsoring this event. Judging by the energy and enthusiasm, students truly enjoy engaging and participating in the many clubs and activities FLVS offers.
