Ah, summer. It’s the ideal time for hanging out with friends, heading to the pool or the beach, soaking up the warm weather, enjoying cookouts, reading good books, and maybe taking a vacation with family. It’s been a great year, and you’ve earned a break!

Ever wonder where the name September comes from? The prefix “sept” means seven. September was the seventh month in the original Roman calendar that included only ten months!

September is also National Piano Month. Celebrate by signing your high school student up for Music of the World, one of our electives that explores musical instruments and composers throughout history and provides perspective on various styles of music.

Here’s a summer riddle for you: “When do you go at red and stop at green?”

Answer: When you’re eating a slice of watermelon!

Summertime is here and that could mean taking a trip somewhere, spending time at the beach or pool, going to cookouts, watching movies, reading, or hanging out and visiting family and friends. Or maybe you’re taking a summer class or two with FLVS to work ahead or catch up. Whatever the case may be, leave some time for science fun.
