FLVS Student Guide: Your One-Stop-Shop for Educational Resources and Support

Whether you’re a seasoned Florida Virtual School (FLVS) student, or just starting your educational journey in the online world, the FLVS team is standing by to assist you with whatever questions you have or resources you need. Looking to learn more about the resources available to you as an FLVS student? Keep reading below.

Resource Hub

The first stop whenever you have any questions, should always be the Resource Hub located on the FLVS website. Here you will find resources that are specific to what option you are enrolled in FLVS Flex, FLVS Full Time, or Homeschool. Underneath each learning option are categories to assist you in finding the information you need, as quickly as possible.

If you still have questions, you can click the FLVS Chatbot on the bottom right of the screen to receive specific assistance with password issues, enrollment or placement questions, school option questions, and more!

Caring and Compassionate Counselors

At FLVS, we have counselors on staff to assist you with any guidance or advisement questions. You can meet one-on-one with professionals dedicated to making sure you receive the support needed to achieve your desired educational goals.

Counselors provide guidance for all aspects of school life at FLVS, including advice on potential careers, the college application process, how to apply for scholarships, financial aid, personal growth, and ways to build employability skills like time management, communication, and more.  Besides these very important aspects, they are also available if you need someone to listen.

The counseling department also provides Flex K-5, Flex 6-12, and Full Time webinars, important news, and other resources to help you succeed at FLVS and beyond graduation.

“We’re here to ensure you find your path to success, offering answers and a supportive hand to hold as you navigate the vast landscape of education and personal growth. Don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re here for you!,” said Anne Flenner, FLVS Flex School Counseling Team Manager.

Bright Futures Scholarships

If you’re a high school student preparing for college or a career after high school, you can take advantage of the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program funded by the Florida Lottery. The scholarship rewards Florida high school graduates for high academic achievement. These Florida academic scholars are eligible to receive an award amount equal to 100% of tuition and mandatory or applicable fees. Applicable fees could include activity and service, health, athletic, financial aid, capital improvement, campus access/transportation, technology, and tuition differential fees.

The Bright Futures Scholarships include a community service requirement. Recent changes now allow paid work hours to count with a combination of 100 total hours. Service hours/paid work hours must be completed with an agency, company, organization, or business.

Questions about this scholarship opportunity can be directed to the Florida Virtual High School counselor assigned to you, based on your last name. A list of counselors can be found on the FLVS Bright Futures webpage

Discussion-Based Assessments (DBA) Assistance

An important part of the FLVS curriculum is the utilization of Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs). DBAs ensure that you retain the information needed in a course and can show mastery of the content when speaking to your instructor. Although designed to be an enhancement for course mastery, some students have expressed apprehension and stress prior to a DBA. But don’t fear! If you’re one of those students, check out our Guide to FLVS DBAs – Study Tips and Tricks. Additionally, we recommend reading  some of our recent blog posts on DBAs (with some tips coming directly from other students):
