From student athletes to hospital/homebound students, online learning can offer students the opportunity to continue their education at any time and from any place. It also allows students to stay on track amid health concerns, disaster relief efforts, and other challenging circumstances.
At Florida Virtual School (FLVS), we serve schools and teachers so they are able to support students despite disruptions. Working closely with school districts, we have collected a number of best practices over the last 22 years of teaching students in this unique online environment.

Celebrating the 100th Day of School

My high school daughter asked me the other day if we could celebrate the 100th day of school. She complained that after 5th grade she no longer gets to celebrate that day at school. She recalled some great memories – like when they used to count to 100 with M&Ms or make a 100-link paper chain.
But who says only elementary students get to celebrate the 100th day of school? This is actually a great opportunity for teachers and homeschool parents to incorporate fun ideas across all grades and curriculum. Continue reading

FLVS Full Time Graduation Rate Increases

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is excited to announce that our FLVS Full Time High School 2018-19 graduation rate was 87.7%, an increase of 6.3 percentage points over last year. In addition, the team celebrated an increase of 21 percentage points since the 2015-16 school year.
