4 Reasons Why Families Choose FLVS

By on January 26th, 2023

Every student learns differently and has their own unique interests, talents, and challenges, which is why school choice is so important. It allows students the option to learn in an environment that works best for them.

As we celebrate National School Choice Week, we decided to ask our students and families why Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is the best option for them. Many pointed to our award-winning online curriculum, flexibility, unparalleled teacher support, and the reassurance that they can learn in a safe environment.

Why We Chose Florida Virtual School for Our Homeschooling Village

By on September 15th, 2022

A wise mentor once shared with us that, “It takes a village to raise a child!” We have spent our children’s entire lives filling our village with mentors that have helped them become the best versions of themselves.

We are so grateful we found our educational village in Florida Virtual School (FLVS). From the incredible partnerships we have developed with our children’s teachers, counselors, and even the executive team, to the amazing educational experiences their classes and clubs bring them, finding FLVS was a dream come true for our family!

Providing Deeper Meaning: Two Brothers Take Hebrew 1 and 2

By on September 6th, 2022

Jonathan and David Miller first started taking courses with Florida Virtual School (FLVS) in middle school because they were always traveling for their parent’s work as missionaries. Jonathan, now in twelfth grade, and David, now in ninth grade, are homeschooled and use FLVS courses because they provide them with the flexible schedule they need, paired with the comprehensive courses they are interested in taking.

In fact, the brothers were both interested in taking new FLVS World Language courses – Hebrew 1 and 2 – and they decided to enroll in the classes together. Their main reasons: they wanted to be able to speak the language when they travel to Israel one day, as well as connect to their faith on a deeper level.

During that time, when I was teaching high school, many of my best students shared with me that they had been homeschooled at some point during their lives.

By on July 20th, 2020

One concern parents express about moving their child from the traditional brick-and-mortar school into online education is a potential lack of student-teacher connection. Some worry the inability to physically approach a teacher’s desk leads to a more impersonal relationship, less help, or limited attention.  I’m here to tell you, it’s quite the opposite!

Meet Emari, FLVS Alum & Dual Enrollment Grad

By on July 16th, 2020

This post was written by Emari Craft, a Class of 2020 graduate who took online courses with FLVS Flex.

My name is Emari Craft. I was a Florida Virtual School (FLVS) student from 7th grade until 11th grade. Online school was the best option for me. I wanted flexibility without compromising my education. When I became a Florida Virtual School student, I was worried that I would not receive the same education as my peers. I did not receive the same education. I believe my education was even better than what I would have received in a traditional school. I was always prepared for End-of-Course exams. I did well on the ACT because of the rigorous courses I took when I was an FLVS student.
