5 Ways Your FLVS School Counselor Can Help You!

FLVS Flex School Counselors are the direct line to our homeschool families in regards to academic advising, college and career planning, SAT/ACT information, scholarships, and more!

Have you reached out to your FLVS School Counselor lately? If not, now is the time!

Here are five ways your FLVS School Counselor can help you!

Taking the Correct Courses for Your Future Plans

Just as no snowflake is the same, no student is the same! Every student has different goals, passions, and directions that they are looking for in their life! FLVS Flex is a great place for students, as they truly are “at the center of every decision we make.” This includes course planning! If you want to apply to a competitive university, you will want to take the most rigorous courses you can.  Planning to attend a state college or tech school?  Your path may be different! FLVS School Counselors love to learn about WHO our students are and how we can support them! If you are new to FLVS, just send your FLVS counselor your previous school transcript and we’ll work with you from there!

Setting A Plan for the Future

We aren’t talking about what you are going to have for lunch today. FLVS School Counselors talk with students everyday about their future career plans, what they want to study in college, what they want their life to be like in the future, and more! School Counselors are specifically trained to listen to all the great things that make you, YOU!  We can connect you with resources to set a plan for your future! Not sure about what career you want in the future? Unsure about college or work or military? Call your School Counselor!

Showing You the Money

Worried about paying for college in the future? School Counselors stay up to date with the latest information on financial aid and scholarships! Each week the FLVS School Counselors post new scholarship opportunities to the FLVS Advisement – College and Careers Facebook page! “Like” this page and be in the know for new scholarships! The more you get to know your School Counselor, the easier it is for them to alert you directly when scholarships that fit YOU pop up!

Prepping for SAT/ACT/PERT (Oh My!)

What do all these letters mean? Don’t know? Ask your School Counselor! College placement tests are an important part of your application process for college/university admission. School Counselors can talk with you about which test may be best for you, when to take it, and how to study!

And Just About Everything Else…

While School Counselors are here to support you for your academic, career, and college planning, they are also here to support you in the tough times. If you are stressed about a course and don’t know how to move forward, call us! If your parent lost his/her job and you need to move, but don’t know how to continue school, call us! If you just need someone to talk with, call us!

School Counselors are your one-stop shop for your academic, college/career, and social/emotional needs!

    Hello Anne:
Thanks for always being so helpful to my two kiddos who have taken FLVS for past 2 years and love all the Teachers and Flex learning with son’s baseball travel schedule! When you have the chance, wanted to plan my son’s senior FLVS year with class selection, college athletic scholarship opportunities & school playing options, as well as see when next PERT test will be online to plan dual enrollment classes at PB State in near future. Thanks so much!
